An article about my experience of being plus size in the outdoors, and how it led to me co-founding Every Body Outdoors. The article talks through the work of the organisation, and offers some advice and kit suggestions for plus size people looking to get outdoors.
“Five years ago, I spent a fortnight solo walking and wild camping along St Olavs Way, a little-known pilgrimage trail in Norway. I walked over 160 miles, camping on remote hilltops and in sleepy woodlands, wearing leggings I’d bought at the supermarket, tops from a high street retailer, and a cheap ill-fitting men’s waterproof. You might presume I was ill prepared for the trip, but the reality is that I couldn’t find suitable outdoor clothing to fit my size 20 body. ”
